Virayoga was founded in 2002 by Elena Brower, soon after 9/11, when Lower Manhattan sorely needed a refuge. Located in Nolita ("North of Little Italy"), the studio has become an urban oasis for New Yorkers over the years, as well as a top destination for yogis traveling to the city from all over the world.
In addition Elena Brower's weekly classes, Virayoga offers a full schedule of highly trained and talented teachers presenting a variety of styles, including Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Anusara, Kundalini and Restorative. All teachers at Virayoga wield a deep understanding of anatomy and alignment, striving to support students both physically and emotionally.
The spacious studio rooms feature high ceilings yet offer a warm, intimate feel, especially on Sunday evenings when class is taught by candlelight. Virayoga also regularly offers highly-regarded workshops on Ayurveda as well as mantra, myth and meditation, inviting students to compliment and deepen their practice with healthy and mindful living.
